Bad Review

Carrie in 'Critical Condition' episode

In Episode 6 season 5 of Sex and the City, Carrie's book -- Sex and the City -- got a review from Michiko Kakutani. Carrie felt upset with Kakutani's sentence, "All in all, I enjoyed spending time in Ms. Bradshaw's sharp, funny, finely-drawn world where single women rule and the men are disposable." well, perhaps Carrie intended to say that SOME men are disposable, but she didn't mean ALL men are disposable.

This reminded her of her bumping into someone named Nina Katz who happened to be Aidan's next girlfriend after he broke up with Carrie. Nina showed a very not nice facial expression toward Carrie. That facial expression itself was already a bothering 'review' for Carrie: was she that bad?

So, Carrie wrote for her column:

"Why is it that we only seem to believe the negative things people say about us no matter how much evidence there is to the contrary? A neighbor, a face, an ex-boyfriend can cancel out everything we thought once true. Odd, but when it comes to life and love, why do we believe our worst reviews?"

Watching this part of the episode reminded me of one ex-student who happened to be born on the same date with me: 12 August. He said that a Leo would NEVER forget people who did something unfair -- can be something done or perhaps just something 'said' to him/her; people whom a Leo person never have any bad 'judgment' before, and out of the blue, he/she said something unfair and did something bad to a Leo.

Luckily some hours before watching (again) this episode, I had a chit chat with a friend. He in fact befriends with someone who has written annoying comment on one social media of mine, let's call this someone Y. knowing that Y was this friend's school mate back then, without feeling doubtful I told him what Y has done to me. Bla bla bla …

Indeed, Carrie was right. Why do I keep remembering negative things people say about me? Even from someone who doesn't know me in person?
